禁酒法時代のシカゴ。失業中のミュージシャン、ジェリーとジョーは偶然、殺人現場を目撃してしまい、ギャングのボス、スパッツから命を狙われるはめに。やむなく2人は女性だけの楽団に女装してもぐりこみ、寝台列車でマイアミに向かう。魅力的なウクレレ奏者シュガーにすっかり惚れ込んだ彼らだが、ジョーは、マイアミで富豪に変身して彼女に再接近を図る。一方のジェリーは、初老の富豪オズグッド三世から求愛を受けてしまう。
