Charlie Arglist (John Cusack) parece ter algo para comemorar neste ano, já que ele e seu sócio, o malandro Vic Cavanaugh (Billy Bob Thornton) acabaram de embolsar US$ 2 milhões do chefão Bill Guerrard (Randy Quaid). Mas o maior prêmio para Charlie é Renata (Connie Nielsen), que gerencia uma boate de strip-tease.
